Don't think you're man or woman enough to handle a piece of power equipment? Fear no more. Black & Decker's bump feed string trimmer is a great buy for even the beginning gardener who needs to whack weeds regularly. Its 3-1/2 amp motor munches medium-to-thick weeds with precision and ease, even when weeds are a tangled web. The 12-inch cutting path and 10,000 rpm get the job done fast. This Black & Decker is easy to maneuver and can be used to trim weeds in some hard-to-reach places where other trimmers fail. It will also challenge thicker weeds, but watch out for vines, which can get tangled up above the cutting spool. To feed the spool, simply tap the trimmer against the ground.

Black & Decker definitely keeps the consumer in mind by providing comfort with an adjustable, textured top handle for firm gripping and maximum control. This string trimmer is not too heavy, either; weighing about 5 pounds, it's a good fit, even for smaller gardeners. You may start to feel a light vibration in your hands after a long trimming job, but it's minimal. This Black & Decker model can be used regularly and doubles as an edger. The Groom 'n' Edge button rotates the trimmer head 180 degrees to convert the trimmer to an edger and back again. In seconds, you can turn the head, and you'll hear the snap when it's in place. An edge guide provides precise trimming and edging around sidewalks and driveways and does a good job of keeping you at a safe distance from rocks or even the side of your deck or house.

This string trimmer, as well as most other electric trimmers, is best suited for small yards that are accessible with extension cords. Because electric trimmers are generally lighter and more comfortable, they are easy to handle. If you're looking to whack unruly weeds on your otherwise well-maintained yard, this electric trimmer is a less-powerful yet long-lasting alternative to more expensive gas-powered trimmers. Be sure to wear hand, eye, and foot protection when operating any trimmer. A 30-day no-risk satisfaction guarantee and full two-year warranty are included.

4I love it   Aug 18, 2008
Great product, works wonderful for small yards , and you don't have to pay for gas to use it. Just make sure you have a long extention cord. It is pretty heavy after 10 min (my arms got tried after a while),but it does get the job done and at an excellent price. I have never been unhappy with a Black & Decker

5String trimmer  Jul 28, 2008
As far as string trimmers go...I am very impressed with this Black & Decker model. It is tough enough to do the fairly big jobs and yet small enough to be light. I think it is the perfect trimmer for a woman for example. This may be a single line trimmer rather than a dual line but that makes it easier to wind the line on the spool and it can do the job. The bump-feed works well also. I have used a number of different brands of line trimmers over the years and I think Black & Decker make the best electric edger/trimmers.

4It'll do the job  Jul 28, 2008
This trimmer is a good light-weight workhorse. I used it to edge my grass along the concrete and it did a good job plowing thru 6-inch thick chunks of crabgrass and dirt so I think it does have a good amount of power to it. It handled the rest of my trimming with ease. It's a bit more of a struggle to put together than most trimmers (I've owned several). The metal guard bar on the front of the trimmer just refuses to stay on no matter what you do so I use it without that: I haven't noticed any problem with functionality or safety. The bump feed doesn't work terribly well either, but that's true of every other trimmer I've owned too! Overall, this trimmer will the do what the average homeowner needs a trimmer to do.

5Great light-weight trimmer  Jul 01, 2008
This trimmer is simple to use and is light-weight. It has much more power than my old B&D cordless one, and no need to worry about the battery giving out--just get a long extension cord and go to work. Wear good shoes--it's powerful and could take off a toe!

5Outstanding for the Price!!!!  Jun 10, 2008
For $19.99 I could not ask for more. Used it to edge a driveway and sidewalk and it had ample power and cutting ability. Trimmed the grass & edged up large amounts of dirt with no problems. I wish I would have bought it sooner!
