Porter-Cable never disappoints, especially with their air tools. Here's a great nailer for the contractor or do-it-yourselfer in the Southeast, Gulf Coast and Western regions with its 22-degree plastic collated round head framing nails from 2 to 3-1/2 inches long. We like the new rounded body style on the nailer, which Porter-Cable says has doubled the tool's life, and we can tell you it feels right in the hand. It's still packing plenty of power, even though it's more compact. As always, we're fond of its tool-free adjustable exhaust, tool-free adjustable depth of drive with detents, and an internal piston catch for consistent power. The triggers can be set to restrictive or contact mode, so you've got complete control over nail release. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

5Flawless Operation  Nov 30, 2008
Purchased a 6 gal pancake compressor combo pack with a brad and FR350A framing nailer. Erected a 10 section, 125 foot privacy fence. 20 2x4s and 260 1x6 pickets. Used 3", 23/8", and 2" hot dip galvanized, ringed nails. No misfires, no jams, no problems. Nailer worked perfectly. Set up consisted (in order) of a 50' 3/8" hose, a contaminant/moisture fliter, an accessory hose, an in line oiler, and the nailer. I highly recommend this time and labor saving product.

5Works great!  Nov 03, 2008
I am a weekend warrior, not a pro. However after using this tool for 3 weekends while constructing a shed it has proven itself to be efficient and reliable. I set the regulator on the compressor to 100 psi and I got consistent results with even depth of driven nails. I have a 4.5 Gallon, 1.8 HP, 150 psi Ridgid compressor that cycles on when the pressure drops between 100 and 110 psi and it had no problem keeping up with me.

Nails are very easy to load, and not too hard to unload when you need to change size (the nail lock release tab is a little small and hard to press if your wearing gloves). I used 3 1/2" 16d ring-shanked framing nails and 2 3/8" 8d ring-shanked nails, both could be driven flush with the surface with minor depth adjustments. Even in restricted fire mode you can fire extremely rapidly and essentially the same as you would in bump mode by bumping and squeezing the trigger at the same time. For this reason I saw no need to engage bump fire mode and stayed on the slightly safer restricted mode. The tool-less air exhaust port is great as getting blasted in the face is a little unnerving at times. This tool definitely packs a punch and has a fair recoil but was easy to handle even for a novice. It was easiest to just let the tool recoil like it wanted rather than trying to keep it planted against the surface. Knowing it's power potential I was always very wary of where I placed my hands to keep them safe.

This is a fine tool and hard to beat for the money.

5Great gun, great price!  Sep 15, 2008
This nailer works great. It is a bit slower at the trigger that I'm used to but overall, great gun. I just used it to frame a new home for a client.

5FR350a Review  Sep 08, 2008
Fantastic tool, saves a ton of time and labor. Easy to use, works perfectly on a 150max psi pancake compressor (gauged to 115psi). Easily drives 3" nails into wood for framing and general construction work. Be sure to use oil at each use (just a couple of drops). Drove hundreds of nails in a few hours...try doing that with a hammer! Great product, solidly built, easy to load and clear.
